UoG Video Game Reading Group Presentation

I was at the Advanced Research Centre at the University of Glasgow yesterday to deliver a presentation on my doctoral research to a group of fellow PhD students. This experience was unique in how I delivered my presentation, as I designed this as a workshop which gamified my research. In this way, I invited attendees to enter the role of a director hired to develop a video game IP into a television series or film. I integrated key theory from my research, and used multiple choice questions to guide and structure decision making.

This was an experience which I thoroughly enjoyed, as it introduced dimensions of interaction and immersion which I have not used before. It has taught me that there is another innovative way to deliver my research. I was also thankful to receive great feedback, and to be told that the presentation was both insightful and engaging for people to attend. I also got some good recommendations on applying new, fresh perspectives into my work. Overall, this was a great experience and allowed me to experiment with ways of communicating my work.
